Harvard-educated Tom Morello is probably best known as the lead guitarist and co-founder of the popular band, Rage Against the Machine, and later went on to play with Audioslave.
Morello has been named by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the greatest guitarists of all time and is a well-known political activist. As noted by Bill Moyers last year:
Songs of social protest — music and the quest for justice — have long been intertwined, and the troubadours of troubling times — Guthrie, Seeger, Baez, Dylan, and Springsteen among them — have become famous for their dedication to both. Now we can add a name to the ranks of those who lift their voices for social and economic justice: Tom Morello.
Tom Morello shares his music, his message, and mission with Bill Moyers in the amazing interview below.
We will begin with a clip in which Morello explains the role of music in uniting a movement, followed by the full interview with Bill Moyers from May 18, 2012.
