Should high schoolers get an assignment to write a suicide note? That’s what happened in one New York school. The students were asked to write the suicide note from the perspective of a character in a book they were reading for class. The school is defending the assignment, saying it forced the students to think, and that it was clear it was from the perspective of the book character and not their own life.
