In what could be the political story of the decade, Democratic Senators Angela Giron of Pueblo and John Morse of Colorado Springs face recall votes after gun-rights activists petitioned them to face voters.
The National Rifle Association along with other Right Wing special interests groups such as Americans For Prosperity and the Koch Brothers are spending untold sums of money in their effort to recall Senate President John Morse because this election is a critical step in their extremist national strategy.
If we can’t stop the NRA here in Colorado, they will be emboldened to use this strategy of recall to intimidate legislators across the country anytime reasonable gun legislation is pursued.
The negative ramifications of a loss in Colorado are unquestionable.
Watch for yourself as Jon Caldara, the president of the NRA-funded think tank Independence Institute explains how national special interests see Colorado as ground zero for their campaign of intimidation.
“The entire nation comes to Colorado Springs and Pueblo to decide the fate of this issue,” Caldara told the crowd of Right Wing activists. “If the president of the Senate of Colorado … gets knocked out, there will be a shudder, a wave of fear that runs across every state legislator across the country that says, ‘I ain’t doin’ that, ever. That is not happening to me. I will not become a national embarrassment. I will not take on those gunnies’ That’s how big this is.”
A Whole Lot of People for John Morse
