Real estate tycoon Donald Trump Fights is fighting a phony university claim as New York’s attorney general files a lawsuit, accusing Trump of bilking students out of thousands of dollars with his real estate school.
The $40 million lawsuit, filed Saturday, claims the real estate mogul ran a fake “Trump University” that promised to make students rich but actually steered them into expensive seminars costing thousands of dollars.
The Associated Press reports that
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says many of the 5,000 students who paid up to $35,000 thought they would at least meet Trump but instead all they got was their picture taken in front of a life-size picture of “The Apprentice” TV star.
