For the first time in its history, the US Congress is to hear directly from a family of survivors of an American drone strike in Pakistan.
A Pakistani school teacher and his children will be the first drone victims to testify before the United States Congress on Tuesday. 9-year-old Nabeela Rehman is the survivor of an alleged drone strike in northwest Pakistan, one that took her grandmother’s life and set her on the path to coming to Washington to tell her story to Congress.
Since 2004 there have been just over 370 CIA strikes in Pakistan. The Bureau of Investigative Journalism estimates that up to 3,600 Pakistanis have died. Al Jazeera’s Kristen Halkett reports.
