Fox v. Fox: Greta Van Susteren And Erick Erickson’s War Of Words

Greta Van Susteren And Erick Erickson's War Of Words

Fox News host Greta Van Susteren kicked off a war of words with fellow Fox host Erick Erickson this Monday over Wendy Davis, the Democratic candidate for Governor of Texas.

Their feud seems to have been sparked by a series of recent Tweets by Erickson about Davis, beginning on January 1st when he referred to Davis as “Abortion Barbie, ” yet again. [You might recall we covered his signature characterization last year, when he first launched his vitriolic attack on Davis her 11-hour filibuster against a sweeping anti-abortion bill.]

Van Susteren launched her own attack on Erickson on her blog, entitled GretaWire, by posting a large, sweaty photograph of the him and headlining it, “What is wrong with this guy? He is such a jerk! He is a repeat offender!”

Van Sustern Attack

Posting some of Erickson’s Tweets, below, Van Susteren went on to condemn Erickson’s commentary on Monday January 27th, calling him a “jerk” and a “creep” who “has [a] pattern of being disrespectful to women”:

This posting is not about Wendy Davis.  It is not about her views.  This is about a man who has pattern of being disrespectful to women:

We are a big nation with different viewpoints.   We won’t always agree…but a strong debate is helpful when we disagree.  Sometimes if you are smart in your debate, you persuade someone who otherwise had disagreed with you.

And then there are the creeps who take cheap shots because they are too ignorant and small to engage in an important discussion.   The best they can do is make themselves look really bad.  No one should pay any attention to them – they are not persuasive, they are noise, and in some instances boorish and obnoxious.  I suspect this guy feels that he makes himself relevant or even important if he says or tweets like this.  I just roll my eyes and wonder what is going on in his head!

I don’t care how much you disagree or agree with Texas’ Wendy Davis, you have to agree that this guy, Erick Erickson, is a real jerk and is really lousy at being a spokesperson for his views:

Erick-Tweets

Erickson launched his own counter-offensive Monday evening on RedState writing “someone is offended by me, thinks me creepy, or thinks me a jerk is fine with me as it continues to force them to talk about Wendy Davis, defender of the right to tear children apart.”

Greta Van Sustern wishes you to know I’m a creepy jerk. She does not know who I am and thinks no one should listen to me. I appreciate her letting someone she’s never heard of who she thinks should not be listened to live rent free in her head.

But I must sincerely thank her.

I appreciate Greta focusing on my tweets and find it instructive she chose specifically to not make it about Wendy Davis. Wendy Davis is a one issue wonder heralded by the press because she is a high priestess of the secular religion’s sacred sacrament — slaughtering children on the altar of Moloch. That Greta Van Susteren is offended by me, thinks me creepy and a jerk, and thinks I should not be listened to is of no harm or consequence to me.

I applaud her willingness to give greater exposure to my tweets because it causes more people to dig into Wendy Davis. And the more they dig the more they find her only issue is abortion. Single issue candidates whose only issue is abortion do not do well.

Spending all this time and energy making it about me, not only reinforces Wendy Davis’s single issue, but distracts the Democrats from the negative attacks they’ll eventually launch, too late, on her Republican opponent.

Thank you Greta for putting this issue in the spotlight. […] That someone is offended by me, thinks me creepy, or thinks me a jerk is fine with me as it continues to force them to talk about Wendy Davis, defender of the right to tear children apart.

Thank you Greta very much for writing this post and shedding more light on Wendy Davis by making her campaign about me. I do sincerely appreciate the exposure that it might, even indirectly, expose the Cult of Death’s latest champion.

I cannot help but wonder what the next chapter in this saga might bring…
