On Thursday, Rachel Maddow presented a new theory regarding the motive of the Fort Lee traffic jam, noting that it may not have been retribution over the mayor’s gubernatorial endorsement.
Given the timing of the scandal, Maddow believes the traffic jam could have been retaliation against a New Jersey senate leader’s refusal to confirm Christie’s nominees to replace a Democratic Supreme Court justice Christie let go for no apparent reason, making him the first Supreme Court justice not renominated in over 60 years. Of particular note, this senator’s district includes Fort Lee.
One of the more compelling factors presented by Maddow includes the fact that Kelly’s infamous email to Wildstein about “traffic problems” was sent the day after Christie gave a press conference in which he called the senate Democrats “savages” and withdrew the renomination of his preferred Republican justice.
