After learning to read at just 2, and teaching herself Spanish using her parents’ iPad, Alexis Martin is now the youngest member of Arizona’s chapter of Mensa – an organization so elite only the smartest 2 percent are members.
Have you ever had a conversation with a small child and felt, ahem, less than intelligent? Well don’t feel too bad, many kids are insanely knowledgeable and one in particular is Alexis Martin, who could have given Einstein a run for his money.
She is considered a genius with an IQ above 160. As reported by ABC News,
The average person has an IQ of 100. Alexis’ is above 160.
The doctors who tested Alexis said she tested so high, they couldn’t even calculate her IQ score.
Here’s where it gets even more interesting, Alexis is only three years of age. Because of her now recognized genius status, the preschooler has become an official member of Mensa.
Her father, Ian Martin stated “From 12-18 months old, we’d be driving around in the car and she would recite her bedtime story from the night before. She didn’t just recite them, she recited them exactly.”
It didn’t take long for her talents to surface. She would randomly pick up words through either books or conversation. All Alexis had to do was hear the words one time and according to her parents, she would never use them in the improper context.
For now, her mom and dad are contemplating on what to do about school.
