Remember the Bush years when daring to criticize the President was consider to be treason?
It seems that former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has forgotten.
Rumsfeld lashed out at President Obama on Monday telling Fox News host Greta Van Susteren that a “trained ape” could do better.
Rumsfeld began his attack by speaking about Afghan President Hamid Karzai, saying he understood why Karzai backed Russia’s takeover of Crimea.
“I personally sympathize with him to some extent. Nobody likes to hear a foreign leader side with Putin on the Crimea the way he has. But I really think it’s understandable, given the terrible, terrible diplomacy that the United States has conducted with Afghanistan over the last several years.”
Rumsfeld goes on to criticize Obama’s foreign policy directly. Speaking of status of forces agreements, Rumsfeld stated:
“Take for example that we have status of forces agreements probably with 100, 125 countries in the world. This administration, the White House and the State Department, have failed to get a status of forces agreement. A trained ape could get a status of forces agreement. It does not take a genius.”
(Status of forces agreements are agreements between a host country and another country stationing military forces there.)
