Report: Girl With Scarred Face Never Visited KFC. Her Grandmother’s Story A Hoax? (VIDEO)

KFC-Fraud

The recent report of a Jackson, Mississipi, KFC asking a 3-year-old girl to leave because of her facial scars is a hoax according to The Laurel Leader-Call.

KFC spokesman Rick Maynard released the following statement, as reported by the Leader-Call:

“Like the rest of America, the KFC family has been moved by the story of Victoria’s injuries and recovery. After the alleged incident was reported to us, two investigations took place, including one by an independent investigator. Neither revealed any evidence that the incident occurred and we consider the investigation closed. We are honoring our commitment to make a $30,000 donation to assist with Victoria’s medical bills. We hope everyone keeps Victoria in their thoughts and prayers. She will certainly be in ours.”

UPI is reporting that “an unnamed source claims that neither [Victoria] Wilcher nor her grandmother could be seen on surveillance tape from either of the KFC restaurants in Jackson. There is also no transaction that matches the order that Wilcher’s grandmother described — mashed potatoes and sweet tea.”

“We have never ever, ever run off anyone, and we have seen some really, really sick people come to the restaurant from the hospital,” the source said. “We’ve had people come in who were shot in the face. We’ve had them with tubes and wire sticking out. We never have asked anyone to leave.”

The Leader-Call also reports that neither family members nor their attorney have disputed their story that called their claims a hoax was wrong, but instead said the focus should be on helping Victoria.

A family member posted a statement that read, in part: “Our focus is on this child’s well-being and her future care… We are very excited to be a part of the process of helping Victoria.”

They go on to report that while the family has “dismantled the Facebook page, Victoria’s Victories, which helped them raise $135,000 and get offers of free plastic surgery and a free prosthetic eye” several individuals are seeking refunds from gofundme.com on a new Facebook page entitled “Victoria’s Victories – HOAX.”
