Emotions range from anger to numbness in the wake of yet another mass shooting in the U.S.
So far 2015 has seen 275 days with 294 mass shootings – incidents where 4 or more people are killed or injured by gunfire.
The latest and worst mass shooting so far this year occurred yesterday at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College with 10 reported deaths including that of the shooter.
As The Washington Post reported yesterday
We’ve gone no more than eight days without one of these incidents this year. On six days in September, there were 3 mass shootings or more. If the initial casualty figures in Oregon hold up, that would bring the total of deaths by mass shooting this year to 380 so far, with well over one thousand injured.
And of course, there’s the broader universe of nearly 10,000 people killed and 20,000 wounded in nearly 40,000 gun violence incidents so far this year.
Several interesting posts have appeared on Twitter regarding the #NRA and the #OregonShooting and we thought we would post a few of them here.
Our first one comes from a Liberals Unite favorite – John Fugelsang – who tweets “Here’s what happens next – #UCCShooting #Columbine #NRA #p2 #gunsense” along with a meme from our friends over at The Everlasting GOP Stoppers giving the answer:
- The NRA shrieks that Obama’s coming for your guns
- Many people believe this, and buy more guns
- Gun manufacturers again make HUGE PROFITS after yet ANOTHER MASSACRE
- Repeat

Bipartisan Report tweeted that “There should be a background check before the #NRA is allowed to buy a senator. #UCCShooting.”

A favorite comes from Benny Diego, who tweeted “Dear Republicans: Planned Parenthood isn’t profiting off of the deaths of children… You’re thinking of the #NRA” along with a cartoon:

Mary Anne Franks mirrors that sentiment in her tweet: “If Congress is concerned about organizations profiting from dead children, it should be investigating the #NRA, not #PlannedParenthood.”

Rob Hoffman tweeted: “guns don’t kill people; the NRA’s stranglehold on the US government kills people.”

And Jeanne K. tweeted: “If the #NRA wants to do something about mental illness, they should all check into a hospital now #UCCShooting.”

And to round things off, we thought we would put up a post by frequent Fox News guest, Dana Loesch, who is a conservative talk radio host, the television host at The Blaze and the author of the book Hands Off My Gun: Defeating the Plot to Disarm America.
Although her tweet was posted a day before the Oregon shooting, we thought the irony within noteworthy:
Remember: Turn hate into a positive! Donate to the #NRA, become a member or consider donating. Thanks to those who have 😉 ✌
