The son of infamous Mafia figure John Gambino says the Mafia is ready to protect New York City from ISIS.
Giovanni Gambino, the son of infamous mob boss John Gambino, told a Dutch radio station that La Cosa Nostra is ready to fight ISIS in New York City, vowing that the Mafia can do a better job of protecting the city than the New York Police Department.
During the interview, Gambino said that “the rise of global terrorism gives the Mafia a chance to show its good side.”
“The Mafia has a bad reputation, but much of that’s undeserved,” said Gambino, adding that: “As with everything in life, there are good, bad and ugly parts – the rise of global terrorism gives the Mafia a chance to show its good side. The Mafia and its allies, however, are connected to neighborhoods in a meaningful way. Wherever the Sicilian influence is strong in New York, ISIS interlopers simply won’t be able to set up shop.”
Gambino went on to explain that the FBI and Department of Homeland Security are limited in what they can do, that they often “act too late, or fail to see a complete picture of what’s happening due to a lack of ‘human intelligence’ – the knowledge of individual movements and actions that even the best technology can’t always capture,” according to a report in The Daily Mail.
“The world is dangerous today, but people living in New York neighborhoods with Sicilian connections should feel safe,” he said, adding: “We make sure our friends and families are protected from extremists and terrorists, especially the brutal, psychopathic organization that calls itself the Islamic State.”
The International Business Times reports that The New York Post, RT and other news outlets have mistakenly reported this week that Gambino’s comments were made to NBC News, however, the reports cited above were from an earlier interview with a Dutch radio station.
