Billionaire GOP Donor: I’ll Choose Hillary Clinton Over Donald Trump

Hillary Clinton

Comparing Trump to some of history’s bloodiest demagogues, a billionaire GOP donor is taking on Donald Trump in advertisements calling him a “narcissistic BULLYionaire.”

A Florida billionaire who is backing Republican hopeful Jeb Bush says he will vote for Hillary Clinton if Donald Trump gets the party’s nomination.

Calling Clinton “the lesser of two evils,” Miami healthcare magnate Mike Fernandez told the Miami Herald on Friday that he is so disgusted with Trump that he would do the “unthinkable:”

“If I have a choice — and you can put it in bold — if I have a choice between Trump and Hillary Clinton, I’m choosing Hillary,” he said, adding: “She’s the lesser of two evils.”

“My frustration is really with that sector of Republican voters that are so blinded by the demagoguery of Trump,” Fernandez continued. “I know the campaign — or any other campaign — is not going to say it…. This is not about Jeb. This is about us. This is about the voter.”

As the Miami Herald reports,

Outraged by Trump’s unimpeded ascent, Fernandez is taking on the GOP frontrunner himself. He purchased a full-page ad in the upcoming Sunday edition of the Herald calling Trump a “narcissistic BULLYionaire with a hunger to be adored.”He also likened him to some of history’s bloodiest demagogues.

“Look at Hitler in Germany, Mussolini in Italy and Peron in Argentina. When people lose hope, they are susceptible to those who offer to think for them. Today, in our midst, one ‘popular’ man stands first in the polls,” the ad reads. “The more divisive and outrageous he is, the more he appeals to some people. I worry as I witness whipped-up crowds emboldening and encouraging forked-tongue hatefulness.”

Fernandez, also plans to run the ads in Des Moines and Las Vegas newspapers on December 14 and according to Politico did not advise the Bush campaign of his plans.

“This is me talking. This is what I believe in,” Fernandez said. “And there will be more of it. These aren’t the last bullets I’ll shoot.”

Trump’s sustainability in the polls worries many Republicans with The New York Times reporting that:

Many leading Republican officials, strategists and donors now say they fear that Mr. Trump’s nomination would lead to an electoral wipeout, a sweeping defeat that could undo some of the gains Republicans have made in recent congressional, state and local elections. But in a party that lacks a true leader or anything in the way of consensus — and with the combative Mr. Trump certain to scorch anyone who takes him on — a fierce dispute has arisen about what can be done to stop his candidacy and whether anyone should even try.

Time will tell who the eventual nominees will be, but for now – this is great news for the Clinton campaign.
