Fox News Suspends 2 Contributors For Crude Obama Remarks

Two Fox News contributors were suspended for using profanity to describe President Obama.

Fox News suspended two contributors, Lt. Col. Ralph Peters and actress Stacey Dash, for making profane comments about President Barack Obama while making on-air remarks about his Oval Office address to the nation on Sunday.

During an interview with host Stuart Varney, Peters was asked what he was “saying to the TV as the president was speaking.” Peters responded:

Well, first of all he keeps speaking about “we can’t give in to our fears.” You know, “don’t be afraid.” Look, Mr. President we’re not afraid we’re angry, we’re pissed off, we’re furious. We want you to react, we want you to do something. You’re afraid. I mean this guy is such a total p-ssy, its stunning.

Varney called him out for his use of such crude language, stating: “Ralph, I’m sorry. I’ve got to interrupt again. You used some very strong language there about the President of the United States, and I’m the anchor of Varney & Co., and I have to ask you either you should apologize for that, or take it back.”

Peters did apologize, but  tried to excuse his behavior by saying that others agreed with him:

I do apologize for giving into my anger, but I’m — I feel like you know the American people understand where I’m coming from on this. My choice of words was incorrect, but my sentiment, I think, is shared by many.

CNN reports that “a couple of hours later Stacey Dash, a Fox contributor, said the president ‘didn’t give a sh-t'” when asked about his Sunday night terrorism speech.

“His speech was an epic fail. It was like when you have to go to a dinner with your parents but you have a party to go to afterwards. That’s what it felt like. He was just trying to get through it because he wanted to go to this event afterwards,” she stated, adding: “I did not feel better. I didn’t feel any passion from him, like you said, Andrea. I feel like he could give a sh-t, excuse me, like he could care less. He could care less.”

Fox senior executive vice president Bill Shine announced the suspension of Peters and Dash, stating:

Earlier today, Fox contributors Lt. Col. Ralph Peters and Stacey Dash made comments on different programs that were completely inappropriate and unacceptable for our air. Fox Business Network and Fox News Channel do not condone the use of such language, and have suspended both Peters and Dash for two weeks.

Their comments also drew the ire of Howard Kurtz, the host of Fox News weekend media analysis program “MediaBuss,” who called their use of crude language “flipping embarrassing,” adding that “Critics can say what they want about the president’s policies, but [there is] no need for such crude language on the air.”

For her part, Dash seemed proud of the suspension tweeting that she would “gladly” endure the “consequences” of her words:
