Photos of an injured soldier and his military working dog sharing the same hospital room is going viral since being posted on Facebook this weekend.
Two photos of Army Spc. Andrew Brown and his canine companion, Rocky, recovering from injuries at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. are going viral.
“SPC Brown and Rocky are both doing well after being treated for injuries they suffered from an IED [improvised explosive device] blast earlier this week while searching a structure in support of ongoing operations in Afghanistan,” according to the posts by the 89th Military Police Brigade.
The first post has been shared over 100,000 times by Saturday and shows Rocky with a Purple Heart attached to his collar.
“Rocky and his handler are staying in the same room right now as they are receiving treatment for their injuries,” the post says, adding to “Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they recover during the holiday season.”
The second post shows Spc. Brown and Rocky together.
“They are both very thankful for your thoughts and prayers and are in the process of heading back home,” the Friday post reads. “SPC Brown arrived early this morning to Walter Reed where he was met by his waiting family, and Rocky is expected to return to Fort Hood in the coming weeks. Please remember them, as well as all our Soldiers deployed around the world, during the holiday season. Proven in Battle!”
