Caitlyn Jenner has a few words to say to Trump.
NBC New reports that “Caitlyn Jenner, the reality TV star and transgender icon, harshly called out President Donald Trump on Thursday for withdrawing the federal government’s legal guidance on allowing transgender youths to use the restrooms of their choice in schools. “
Jenner took to the internet, tweeting: “Well @realDonaldTrump, from one Republican to another, this is a disaster. You made a promise to protect the LGBTQ community. Call me.”
Jenner tried to reassure “trans kids of America” in a video attached to the tweet.
“You’re winning,” she said, adding: “I know it doesn’t feel like it today or every day, but you’re winning. Very soon we will win full freedom nationwide, and it’s going to be with bipartisan support.”
“You can help by checking out the National Center for Transgender Equality and letting Washington hear you loud and clear,” Jenner continued before directing her attention to Republicans.
“Now I have a message for the bullies: You’re sick. And because you’re weak, you pick on kids, you pick on women or anyone else you think is vulnerable. Apparently even becoming the attorney general isn’t enough to cure some people of their insecurities,” she said.
Jenner continued, referring to “the courage of a very brave young man, Gavin Grimm,” whose Title IX case will soon be heard before the U.S. Supreme Court.
As the Star Telegram reports, “The high court is scheduled in March to hear the case of 17-year-old Gavin Grimm, a transgender teen from Virginia who sued the School Board of Gloucester County in 2015 for barring him from using the boys’ bathroom at his high school, alleging it infringed on his civil rights.”
Jenner directed her attention to Trump, telling him that is it not too late to “fix” the situation and his earlier “promise to protect the LGBTQ community.”
“I have a message for President Trump from well, one Republican to another,” she said. “This is a disaster. And you can still fix it. You made a promise to protect the LGBTQ community.”
She concluded her video with a simple: “call me.”
