Hostile Crowd Boos Rep. Jason Chaffetz- Video

Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz faced an angry town hall crowd who booed him for not examining Trump’s conflicts of interest, chanting “do your job.”

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) Chairman of the House Oversight Committee was jeered by hundreds of his own constituents during a Thursday town hall meeting in his home state of Utah.

NBC News reports that “Chaffetz faced a chorus of boos… over his role in investigating Trump’s conflicts of interest, the environment and funding for Planned Parenthood.”

Chaffetz faced a chorus of boos over what the audience perceived as his failure to properly address and examine Trump’s many potential conflicts of interest between his expansive business empire and his role as the head of the executive branch.

Hundreds of people were outside the event chanting “do your job” and holding signs while inside, attendees can be heard chanting “let them in.”

The crowd of hundreds inside the Brighton High School in Cottonwood Heights can be heard booing from the instant Chaffetz appeared.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports: “Chaffetz tried to respond to questions, but many of his answers went unheard. The din of the hostile and harassing audience that filled the 1,000 seats of a high school auditorium Thursday night drowned him out.”

“Explain yourself,” the audience roared over him.

“That was only half of the largely liberal crowd,” The Salt Lake Tribune reported adding that: “about 1,500 people stood outside Brighton High School, too far back to make the cut, their signs reading, ‘Do your job’ and ‘America is better than this.'”

The Salt Lake Tribune ran a live feed of the event on their Facebook page with over 300K people viewing the clip.

There were thousands of comments – most from angry attendees such as this individual, who wrote: “Shame on him! He lies to his constituents! Compare what he says to save face at the town hall meeting to what he says on cable news networks. Disappointing!!”

There were others who found hope in the reaction of the crowd: “I lived in Salt Lake for a few years. I come from a Mormon background. I am shocked to see this crowd so unified and fired up. It gives me hope.

Others spoke of the importance of getting out the vote, “when liberals and progressives vote, liberals and progressives win – it’s as simple as that.”

Progressives in Utah were the real sleeping giant. If we can turn this passion into votes, these guys don’t stand a chance! Time for a balanced representation in congress!
