I’ve Got Some WMD In Iraq To Sell You If You Believe What Trump Is Saying

Guest Post by Gregory Muir

Haven’t we seen all this before? Remember all the Colin Powell lies and his speech to the UN and the mobile weapons labs and all the other nonsense that he paraded before the UN?

“The reason the Assad government would bomb its own people with a nerve agent right now is obvious. Syrian President Assad – who has been fighting for his life for several years, and is only lately feeling safer – suddenly decided to commit suicide-by-Trump. Because the best way to make that happen is to commit a war crime against your own people in exactly the way that would force President Trump to respond or else suffer humiliation at the hands of the mainstream media.” – Dilbert creator Scott Adams

I agree. It’s obvious that Syrian president Bashar Hafez al-Assad, tired of all his winning in Syria, needed a break from winning, and there is no better way to do that than to gas your own people. Right?

Haven’t we seen all this before? Remember all the Colin Powell lies and his speech to the UN and the mobile weapons labs and all the other nonsense that he paraded before the UN? The lies and fabricated evidence is too lengthy to list here (see Huffington Post article “Lie after Lie after Lie”). The mushroom clouds, the fake Saddam–Al Quaeda connection, the fake Saddam–911 connection, the 24-hour news coverage for months that we need to do something NOW because we were in danger!? Do we even remember anymore all the reason we were given?

Remember Scott Ritter (head of UN weapons inspectors) and the congressional refusal to meet with him prior to voting on the war, and who was saying to anyone that would listen that there were no Weapons of Mass Destruction? Remember the Valerie Plame Affair or the Dodgy Dossier? Remember the Downing Street Memo, that regime change had been decided but the US was looking for a reason to do it? We found out that the whole congressional-media campaign that our lives were in danger was all a con, and it was regime change from the very beginning just looking for a reason the public would buy into. Remember?

Remember invading Libya to improve human rights there? How’s that going? Should we make a visit to meet Libyan women now forced to live under Sharia law and wear burkas in the ISIS held areas and see what they think? Remember the Blumenthal – Hillary Clinton emails that showed that fighters were being trained within less than a month of the start of the popular protests in Libya, and arms were entering the country in less than 2 months from the start of protests? Libya, we know from those emails, was regime change behind the scenes from the very beginning; but remember how we were sold on TV a story about improving human rights? (I wonder what the emails would show about Syria if we had them? That jihadi training and weapons transfers were happening in less than a month of the beginning of the popular protests, just like Libya? You bet.)

Remember the General Wesley Clarke interview from 2007 where he mentioned the pentagon document for the plan in 2002 to take out 7 countries in 5 years — all of which now, except Iran (don’t worry, that’s coming soon), and Lebanon have been carved up or are now failed states? Regime change or failed state status was the plan for all these countries, but we got TV stories about human rights, WMDs, gas attacks, whatever might work on the public at the moment.

And speaking of Syria, remember we intervened in Syria also to protect human rights? So now 10% of the population is dead, half is homeless, a large swath of the Syrian population is wearing burkas and living under Sharia law, and thousands of Yazidi women were sold as sex slaves by ISIS to themselves and Saudi Arabia. (“Hey how are those new human rights working out for ya?”) Remember the first “Assad used chemical weapons against his people” in August 2013, and the 24-hour TV news cycle saying he had crossed a line, and we had to do something!? Remember? Remember John Kerry’s speech a week later saying we know that Assad did it 35 times in the speech?

Yeah. Well, none of that was true. Because surely you remember investigative reporter Seymour Hersh’s expose showing it wasn’t Assad at all, but the terrorists aka “rebels” along with Turkey who used the chemical weapons (see London Review of Books, The Red Line and the Rat Line” by Seymour M. Hersh on Obama, Erdoğan and the Syrian rebels)? Remember? (summary of the Hersh investigation by The Belfast Telegraph) And remember UN Inspector Carlo del Ponte only months before in May saying that the terrorists aka “rebels” had already used sarin gas? (see: BBC News‘ Carla Del Ponte ‘stupefied by Syrian opposition sarin use’) Remember the US knew in August 2013 that al-Nusra front already had the capability at that time to make sarin gas ? (see: London Review of Books, “Whose sarin?” by Seymour M. Hersh).

Remember just last month the Swedish Medical Association said about the bogus NGO “White Helmets” and the August 2013 gas attack that “An examination of a White Helmets video conducted by Swedish medical doctors, specialists in various fields including pediatrics, have revealed that the life-saving procedures seen in the film are incorrect – in fact life-threatening – or simply fake, including simulated emergency resuscitation techniques being used on already lifeless children.” (see: The Indicator Magazine article: “Swedish Doctors for Human Rights: White Helmets Video, Macabre Manipulation of Dead Children and Staged Chemical Weapons Attack to Justify a ‘No-Fly Zone’ in Syria“)

Here’s an idea, from former British Ambassador to Syria Peter Ford, look to who benefits from the recent attack if you want to know who did it, in this news clip from last week by Sky News.

It’s all so 2003. Does anyone actually believe this stuff anymore? If you believe Assad decided last week to take a break from winning in Syria to go gas some children, well, I’ve got some WMDs in Iraq to sell you.
