Trump Humiliated On Twitter By Time Magazine – Not Once, But Twice

Trump got called out by Time Magazine for lying about their upcoming Man (Person) of the Year cover.

Seemingly unable to control himself from telling another meaningless lie, Trump took to his Twitter account Friday to claim that he had turned down the opportunity to be Time Magazine’s “Man of the Year” for 2017.

“Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named “Man (Person) of the Year,” like last year,” he began, adding “but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!”

About three hours later, Time tweeted that Trump was incorrect.

“The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6,” the Magazine responded.

Alan Murray, Time Inc.’s chief content officer, followed up shortly afterwards – tweeting: “Amazing. Not a speck of truth here—Trump tweets he ‘took a pass’ at being named TIME’s person of the year.”

CNN confirmed the veracity of the Tweet by Time, reporting that: “In 2015… the magazine selected German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who was neither interviewed nor photographed for the issue. Instead, she was represented on the cover by a painting.”

CNN also reported on Trump’s seeming obsession with Time’s “Person of the Year.”

Trump has long been obsessed with being on the cover of TIME and other news magazines, even making fake covers to hang in some of his properties.

Last summer, TIME asked for the fake magazines to be removed after reports surfaced that at least five of Trump’s golf clubs featured the fakes bearing his photo.
