Will Ferrell returned to SNL this weekend and resurrected his George W. Bush impression.
“Saturday Night Live” alumni Will Ferrell returned to the show this weekend, resurrecting his George W. Bush impression to poke fun at mock Trump.
“I know what you’re thinking: What the heck is this handsome devil doing back in the Oval Office? Well, the truth is, this is just a set,” Ferrell began during the show’s cold open. “I had it built in my basement in Texas so I could pretend to still be president sometimes.”
“Donny Q. Trump came in and all the sudden I’m looking pretty sweet by comparison,” Ferrell continued, adding that he just might end up on Mount Rushmore “right next to Washington, Lincoln, and I want to say, uh, Kensington?”
Address his new found popularity in the wake of Trump’s election, Ferrell’s Bush reminded viewers: “I was really bad. Like historically not good.”
So I get why you don’t like this current guy. Heck, I voted for Jill Stein all the way. But please, do not look back at my presidency and think ‘this is how we do it.’ [a reference to Montell Jordan’s ’90s hit song]
At the end of the sketch, Ferrell was joined by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice played by Leslie Jones who joined his Bush in singing a song put to the tune of the theme song for “All in the Family.”
