Trump’s outrageous claim that he would have run into the Florida school triggers immediate mockery on Twitter.
NBC News reported that “Trump said Monday that he would have charged into a Florida school during the shooting there earlier this month even if he were unarmed.”
Speaking to a group of state governors meeting at the White House to discuss school safety, Trump was quoted as saying: “I really believe I’d run in there even if I didn’t have a weapon.”
CNN elaborated, reporting that Trump made those remarks as he “lambasted the inaction of a sheriff’s deputy assigned to the school.”
“You don’t know until you test it, but I think, I really believe I’d run in there, even if I didn’t have a weapon, and I think most of the people in this room would have done that too,” Trump said.
As one might expected, Twitter was quick to respond.
James Gunn tweeted: ““Grabbed my chicken McNuggets they were holding and rushed out. Also, I’d duct-tape eight or nine of the weaker students who had previously made it to my body as a shield before entering. I’m John McClane!” WaPo left out the rest of the quote.”

Other noteworthy tweets included: “Trump has said that the Parkland Deputy who failed to enter the school lacked courage and was a coward. He also claims he’d have run into the school with no weapon. This is the same guy who is too scared to face Robert Mueller face to face for an in-person interview.”

“Trump: “I’d have run into Florida school even without a weapon” No sir, you would not. You refused to defend your country by serving in the military. You would not have run into essentially a combat zone w/o a weapon; you’d have run away to protect yourself!”
