Ann Coulter – the queen of mean – is at it again, this time targeting Senator Mazie Hirono of Hawaii. But Twitter hits back!
Over the years, conservative commentator Ann Coulter has been called “the queen of mean,” “the queen of the damned,” and other not-so-friendly names.
Last week she set her Twitter sights on Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI), presumably for her recent remarks regarding allegations lodged against Brett Kavanaugh, Trump’s Supreme Court nominee.
Calling Hirono a “legitimate bass-ass of the Senate,” Esquire published an article last week which offers some clues as to what must have been irking Coulter.
Starting about two weeks ago, or roughly the same time as Brett Kavanaugh dropped by the Senate Judiciary Committee on which she serves, Mazie Hirono decided it was time to unleash hell.
On Tuesday, frustrated at the piddling, dilatory response to the charges against Kavanaugh, Hirono said this: “Guess who’s perpetuating all of these kinds of actions? It’s the men in this country. I just want to say to the men in this country: Just shut up and step up. Do the right thing for a change.”
Then, on Thursday, responding to Republican assertions that they were doing all they could to accommodate Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, and that they were taking her charges seriously, Hirono said this to ABC News: “We’re not consulted at all. I would like to have us come together and figure out what is the best way to proceed. Not this seat of the pants stuff, and the latest being a letter from the chairman to the Democrats saying we have done everything we can to contact her—that is such bullshit I can hardly stand it.”
Coulter stepped in, right in the middle of all this, tweeting: “TODAY’S QUIZ: Apart from people kicked in the head by a horse, name one human, ever, from the dawn of time, dumber than Sen. Mazie Hirono.”

As one might expect, that post drew the immediate ire of Twitter users and one can arguably make the case that Twitter is ground zero for the anti-Trump resistance movement and her tweet captured the attention of one of our favorite anti-Trump Twitter activists, The Hoarse Whisperer (@HoarseWisperer).
In an epic troll, HoarsWhisperer tweeted: “I have 142,000 followers. I beseech every single one of you to reply to the Ann Coulter post below with nothing more than: Ann Coulter. Also acceptable, ‘You‘ and ‘Look in the mirror‘ and ‘She posted this.'”

In addition to the expected tweets, there were a few team efforts in the form of comments and follow-up remarks by other such as the following exchange:
- Barry’s World: “check mirror”
- Micah Joseph Hall: “I’m not sure Ann Coulter casts a reflection.”
Jackie’s response was another favorite, responding: “Oh shit. Was gonna say you. But you got me with that whole ‘human’ thing. #trickquestion”
Other’s took a broader approach directly answering her question with a string of Republican culprits:
- Impeach 44 1/2: “ann coulter, donald trump, anyone at faux news, kellyanne, lindsay graham, orrin hatch. I can name a lot.”
- Patrick Goff: “@realDonaldTrump @SenateMajLdr @SenRandPauI @BetsyDeVosED @LindseyGrahamSC @ChuckGrassley You could at least have tried to make this a tough question.”
