Racial Identity Politics Is Romney’s Top Strategy

white working-class votersEd Schultz discussed the fact that racial identity politics is now the number one strategy for the Romney campaign.

The Romney campaign continues to hammer its false welfare claims in an attempt to appeal to white, working-class Americans. In spite of the fact it has been debunked numberous times as a lie, Romney continues to attack Pres. Obama falsely claiming he has removed the work requirement from welfare with Romney claiming “There’s no question in my mind that the President’s action was calculated to … shore up his base“.

In reality, the work requirement has not been removed from welfare, but Mitt Romney continues to lie about it with his campaign releasing 5 separate ads hammering Obama about welfare using racially charged language.  To put it into perspective “5 of the last 13 ads endorsed by Mitt Romney are about bogus welfare claims” according to the Ed Show.

Schultz goes on to explain that “the Romney campaign is using a lot of reverse psychology these days” citing former Republican Governor Haley Barbour of Mississippi who said “Name a campaign in the last 25 years where the Dems didn’t play the race card.”

“Here is a guy who kept a Conferate flag in his  office and said segregation during the civil rights in the wasn’t that bad. Now he’s the Romney surrogate on race relations?” added Schultz.

Schults also notes that on Fox News this week when asked about Romney’s recent birther comments, Rove tried to turn the tables making Romney the hero and Pres. Obama the aggressor, stating:

the one guy who said ‘dismiss this’ and defended the President as having been born in the United States in the middle of a contentious primary has been Mitt Romney and the White House has never said thank you Governor Romney”.
