Franchise owners in New York and Virginia charged in scheme to exploit undocumented workers.
More than a dozen 7-Eleven stores were raided resulting in the arrest of nine owners and managers, who were charged today for human trafficking for bringing in workers from Parkistan to staff their stores. According to authorities they provided the workers with stolen U.S. identities, housed them in facilities provided by the franchise owners, and charged exhorbitant rent while skimming money from their paychecks from the corporate headquarters.
