Florida sheriff’s deputies arrested Florida Pastor Terry Jones Wednesday as he drove to a park to light nearly 2,998 Qurans to protest the September 11th terrorist attacks of 2001. According to Jones’ website, the burning was to be “in memory of the 2,998 victims of Islamic jihad who were murdered on September 11th, 2001.”
NBC Miami reports that Jones was charged with unlawful open-carry of a firearm, and both Jones and his associate pastor, Marvin Sapp Jr., were each arrested on ” a felony charge of unlawful conveyance of fuel as they traveled in a pickup truck towing a large barbecue-style grill filled with Qurans soaked in kerosene.”
