Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) makes the ridiculous claim that House Republicans “were completely unified” while speaking about Wednesday’s GOP conference meeting with Speaker John Boehner and the discussion on whether to accept the Senate’s plan to fund the government and raise the debt ceiling.

Back in reality, House Republicans were not “completely unified” and voted 87 for and 144 against on the Motion to Concur in the Senate Amendments, bringing the total count to 285-144.  Of particular note, Democrats in both the Senate and House voted unanimously in favor of the bill.

House Vote

As reported by The Guardian, political strategist and former adviser to George W Bush and Rudy Giuliani, Chris Henick, noted yesterday that:

“As a national party we are going to be all over the map until we have a nominee that can pull various wings together and we won’t see that emerge at least until the end of 2015. It will be fractious; thinking we are going to be completely unified in the 2014 midterms is mistaken.”

MSNBC has noted, “the GOP emerges from the shutdown as dysfunctional and factionalized as ever,” and others are reporting the same.

So where is this unity Bachmann talks about?
