Bill Maher slammed the U.S. Supreme Court Friday night during his New Rules segment for pretending their decisions in Citizens United and the Voting Rights Act won’t have serious consequences.
“New Rule, if you promise the American people that something won’t happen when you change the law, and then you change the law and it does happen, you have to eat a little shit for it.”

“Chief Justice John Roberts and the conservatives on the court changed the law and promised us no bad would come of it, and bad came of it almost immediately.”
Maher went on to note that conservatives like Roberts like to pretend that racism no longer exists, but that Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia all enacted new laws restricting the voting rights of ethnic minorities within 48 hours of their ruling gutting the Voting Rights Act.
“The Court was proved thunderously wrong in less time than it takes Miley Cyrus to get dressed.”
“The same thing happened with the Citizens United ruling,”
