Virginia State Senator Creigh Deeds is in fair condition after being stabbed at his home in Bath County, Virginia.
Law enforcement authorities confirm that the Senator’s 24-year-old son, Gus Deeds, was found inside the residence “suffering from life-threatening injuries associated with a gunshot wound.” Despite efforts by first-responders to revive him, he died on the scene.
State Police are investigating the incident as an attempted murder-suicide, according to Virginia State Police Spokesperson, Corinne Geller, speaking at a press conference Tuesday afternoon:
“Based on the evidence we have right now, we are looking into this as an attempted murder and suicide.”
