THE BIG BANG Explained by Seth MacFarlane

When Seth MacFarlane joined Bill Maher and his guests on Real Time Friday night the subject of the Big Bang Theory arose.

In addition to creating Family Guy, MacFarlane is also the executive director of Cosmos, A Spacetime Odyssey, hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson.

The show focuses on lesser-known scientists who had a big impact.

Noting that he watched the show twice, “once baked and once straight,” Maher noted that the show covered the origins of the universe, but said that he felt he hadn’t fully grasped the concept of the Big Bang Theory and asked MacFarlane to help him out.

“When our universe was one second old it was the size of a marble.”

“Now, all the hundred billion galaxies, all of the stars and worlds, everything, all the matter and energy in the universe was condensed to the size of a marble.”

“And then obviously it exploded in every direction.”

You can watch the exchange below from Bill Maher’s Facebook page.
