It seems this customer opted for pulling a submachine gun and threatening to kill everyone in the store over paying a mere 22-cent tax on his 2-liter Pepsi.

According to Chicago police, 33-year-old Nahshon Shelton pulled a blue-steel Intratec .22-caliber submachine gun out of a Gucci handbag and proceeded to threaten to kill everyone in the convenience store.

This “is my neighborhood, I’m tax exempt!” he allegedly told the police, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times. “Man, you know what, I’ll keep it real. I had to put them in their place.”

The Sun-Times went on to report that Shelton allegedly told one person: “I’m going to shoot you in the head three times,” and told another “I’m going to smoke your ass.”
The Assistant State’s Attorney, Clair Savaglio, told the Sun-Times that the incident was captured by surveillance cameras, adding that “Shelton’s gun had eight live rounds in one magazine, five live rounds in another and one in the chamber.”
Shelton is currently being held without bail on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and having an invalid FOID card, the Firearm Owners Identification card, required by Illinois to legally purchase and possess firearms or ammunition.
