Democrat Congressman trolls Darrell Issa with request to build a ‘truth pond’ at his Oversight committee to help him ferret out “witches.”
U.S. Rep. Tony Cárdenas (D-San Fernando Valley), a member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, today [July 27, 2014] called on committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-San Diego), to install an aboveground pool in room 2154 of the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington.
Cárdenas called for the pool to avoid partisanship, and improve efficiency, in continuing witch hunts being conducted by Issa and the committee majority.
“Voting by members has reached the limit of its usefulness,” said Cárdenas. “We are picking winners and losers, when it is clearly obvious that witches can only be found by dunking them in water. If they float they’re a witch. If they don’t, installing a pool will allow us to retrieve the non-witch before he or she drowns. Like the Chairman, I am interested in effective government oversight and reform. This pool will allow that to take place, wasting far fewer taxpayer dollars in the process.”
Cárdenas made his request following the latest partisan inquisition, Friday morning. A committee vote was called to force the appearance of David Simas, a senior advisor to President Obama and the Director of the new White House Office of Political Strategy, despite the fact that neither the Committee nor a Special Counsel had identified any evidence of inappropriate activity by Simas or the office he directs.
Cárdenas hopes the pool will assist Issa, who famously promised of his chairmanship, “It’ll be good theater.”
The new pool will be dubbed the “Senator Joseph R. McCarthy Memorial Truth Pond” and a plaque will be installed on the exterior with the famous words of former head counsel for the United States Army, Joseph N. Welch, who asked McCarthy, “Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?”
To avoid excessive government waste, the pool will be available for staff and member recreation when committee “hearings” are not being held.
