Mick Jagger introduced the Monty Python Live (Mostly) press conference on Monday with a YouTube clip.
In the clip, Mick Jagger jokes around at his and the Rolling Stones’ own expanse as drummer Charlie Watts looks on.
The intro began with Jagger watching the World Cup on television. A few seconds later an assistant enters the room and asks Jagger about the Stones’ set list for their next show. When Jagger asks about the show’s lighting director, Patrick, the assistant informs him that he is in London working on Monty Python “and the shows at the O2 (Arena).”
Jagger replies: “Monty Python? Are they still going?” adding:
“I mean, who wants…who wants to see that again. It was really funny in the ’60s….Still, it’s a bunch of wrinkly old men trying to relive their youth and make a load of money. I mean the best one (Graham Chapman) died years ago. Maybe back in the ’70s it was fantastic, I mean it was the funniest thing. I mean, I mean you’ve seen it all before. I mean, I mean they put it all up on YouTube.”
To complete the video, Jagger’s assistant asks him again about the set list. Jagger replies: “Well we’ll start with something everyone knows like ‘Let’s Spend The Night Together’ and then we can move onto ‘Get Off Of My Cloud’ and then should hit ‘Satisfaction’ I think then,” referring to songs span all the way back to the ’60.
The clip ends with the assistant asking if Jagger wants to include the “Dead Parrot Sketch” in the performance. Jagger answered in the affirmative, returning his attention to the World Cup game.
MONTY PYTHON LIVE (mostly) will see the stars of Monty Python reunited on stage at the London O2 Arena for 10 memorable nights in July 2014. This reunion promises to be the biggest live event of the year and their final show, ‘The Last Night of the Pythons’ will be broadcast live into more than 450 cinemas in the UK, and into 1500 cinemas worldwide.
