A video of U.S. Rep. Steve Knight (R-CA) threatening a protester during a discussion about immigration last Friday is going viral.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the confrontation took place in front of Knight’s district office where the congressman was holding an open-house.
Protesters gathered outside the Simi Valley office holding “Stop Illegal Immigration” signs. Knight refused to let protesters into the event, but met with them outside afterwards.
A protester, calling himself “Mike,” approached Knight and shook his hand, telling him:
You told me you didn’t vote amnesty and you did. I looked it up on the Internet. You lied to me.
He then patted Knight on the arm and began walking away. However, Knight followed him and poked him in the chest, retorting:
If you touch me again, I’ll drop your ass.
Los Angeles Times noted that “Knight, a former Los Angeles police officer, contends he never voted for ‘amnesty,’ saying there were several versions of the bill and that he voted against President Obama.”
