Trump Encourages Violence Against Protesters, ‘Hurt Him, I’ll Defend You In Court’

Donald Trump’s campaign rallies have come to resemble some surreal post-apocalyptic dystopian science fiction movie.

Watching Republican front-runner Donald Trump‘s campaign rallies has become, at best, a surreal experience; at worst, some nightmarish dystopian event that is sure to come to an unhappy, unholy end.

Increasingly, Trump events have become marred by violence and last week New York Daily News reporter Shaun King writes of the deadly danger that is brewing in the Trump campaign in an article hauntingly titled: “As violence erupts at Super Tuesday Trump rally, it’s only a matter of time before someone gets killed at future events.”

Slate has published a partial list of incidents at Trump events – a list they concede will likely get much larger with the passage of time.

On Friday the bigoted billionaire seemed to be encouraging violence against protesters when he told a Warren, Michigan audience: “Get him out. Try not to hurt him. If you do I’ll defend you in court.”

“Are Trump rallies the most fun?” he asked the crowd, adding “We’re having a good time.”

As CBC New York reports, “He then recalled an incident at a New Hampshire rally where a protester started ‘swinging and punching.’ Trump said some people in the audience ‘took him out.'”

“It was really amazing to watch,” he said.

And this isn’t the first time Trump has encouraged this kind of behavior. Most recently, in late February Trump told a cheering Vegas crowd that he would like to punch a protester in the face and lamented the passing of the “old days” when “a guy like that” would have been “carried out on a stretcher.”

“Oh, I love the old days, you know? You know what I hate? There’s a guy, totally disruptive, throwing punches, we’re not allowed to punch back anymore. I love the old days, you know what they used to do to guys like that when they were in a place like this? They’d be carried out in a stretcher, folks. Oh, it’s true.”

And there is the unadulterated bigotry that has come to characterize his campaign from the very beginning, when he lashed out at Mexicans during his June 16, 2015 campaign announcement speech.

His immigration plan calls for the deportation of the approximately 11 million illegal immigrants in the U.S., the erection of a substantial wall on the Mexico – United States border, and has called for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States, citing links between Muslims and terrorism. On Monday of this week,Trump had a group of about 30 black students removed from a campaign rally in Georgia, and that same day he had a woman thrown out of a rally after he repeatedly accused her of being a Mexican.

Trump has been described by his political opponents as “divisive,” “unserious” and a “bully.”

And while his life story and campaign do not fully align with Pink Floyd’s concept album and accompanying feature film “The Wall,” there are haunting similarities if you compare some of the early portions of the movie to Trump’s rallies.

You can watch a short mash-up below from “In The Flesh,” followed by the clip of that song from the movie.

And here’s the clip from the movie. Tell me you cannot make the connection – I dare you!
