“I am rarely, as your viewers know, rendered speechless,” Michael Avenatti said Wednesday on MSNBC. “But I am absolutely speechless at this revelation and this admission.”
Rudy Giuliani, a member of Trump’s legal team, told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Wednesday night that Trump paid back his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, the $130,000 in hush money that was used to pay off Stormy Daniels.
Amid a wide-ranging interview, Giuliani told Hannity that Trump reimbursed his personal attorney, Michael Cohen, $130,000 that Cohen paid adult film actress Stormy Daniels days before the 2016 election in exchange for her silence about a sexual encounter with Trump in 2006.
Vox News reported that:
Giuliani’s revelation contradicts a statement Trump made last month in which he denied knowing anything about the payment Cohen had made to Daniels as part of a nondisclosure agreement to keep her from speaking about an alleged affair she had with Trump in 2006.
“You’ll have to ask Michael Cohen. Michael Cohen is my attorney,” Trump said in April, when asked about the payment. “You’ll have to ask Michael.”
Stormy Daniels’ attorney, Michael Avenatti, was quick to respond on Twitter to the news, tweeting:
“We predicted months ago that it would be proven that the American people had been lied to as to the $130k payment and what Mr. Trump knew, when he knew it and what he did in connection with it. Every American, regardless of their politics, should be outraged by what we have now learned. Mr. Trump stood on AF1 and blatantly lied. This followed the lies told by others close to him, including Mr. Cohen. This should never be acceptable in our America. We will not rest until justice is served.”

He also appeared on MSNBC’s “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, telling him:
“I am rarely, as your viewers know, rendered speechless,” Avenatti began, adding “But I am absolutely speechless at this revelation and this admission.”
Continuing, he stated:
And I hope that your viewers and that the American people upon hearing this and watching that clip – they should be outraged. I don’t care whether you are on the left or on the right or in the center. I don’t care what your party affiliation is. You deserve to be told the truth by your president and the people who stand at the podium at the White House briefings and answer questions…
And I don’t care about your political persuasion, this is what you deserve as American citizens. And this is an outrage what has gone on here.
The American people have been lied to about this agreement, about the $130,000, about the reimbursement, and this is consistent with what we have been saying now for months. That ultimately it is going to be proven and ultimately was going to come out.
We just didn’t know that Rudy Giuliani was going to go on the Sean Hannity show and admit it on national television. But make no mistake about it. Justice needs to be served as a result of this and we are going to work morning, noon and night to insure that is exactly what is going to happen.
