Former CIA director: Trump’s News Conference ‘Nothing Short Of Treasonous’ – Video

John Brennan

Former CIA Director John Brennan accuses Trump of “high crimes & misdemeanors” and called on Republican patriots to step forward.

John Brennan has spent 25 years with the Central Intelligence Agency, serving as it’s director from March 2013 to January 2017. Prior to serving as director,  Brennan worked at the White House as Assistant to the President for Homeland Security between 2009 and 2013.

Brennan spoke out today on Twitter in the wake of Trump’s private meeting earlier today with Russian president Vladimir Putin and subsequent press conference, accusing Trump’s press conference of being “nothing short of treasonous.”

“Donald Trump’s press conference performance in Helsinki rises to & exceeds the threshold of ‘high crimes & misdemeanors.’ It was nothing short of treasonous. Not only were Trump’s comments imbecilic, he is wholly in the pocket of Putin. Republican Patriots: Where are you???”

CNN reported that Trump refused to side with U.S. intelligence agencies, instead taking Putin’s side.

Trump declined to endorse the US intelligence community’s assessment that Russia interfered in the election, saying Putin was “extremely strong and powerful” in his denial. Instead, the US president repeatedly asked about the Democratic National Committee’s email server and Hillary Clinton’s missing emails.

Below is a partial transcript of Trump’s remarks:

So let me just say that we have two thoughts: You have groups that are wondering why the FBI never took the server. Why haven’t they taken the server? Why was the FBI told to leave the office of the Democratic National Committee? I’ve been wondering that. I’ve been asking that for months and months, and I’ve been tweeting it out and calling it out on social media. Where is the server? I want to know where is the server and what is the server saying? …I have President Putin, he just said it’s not Russia. I will say this: I don’t see any reason why it would be, but I really do want to see the server. But I have — I have confidence in both parties. I really believe that this will probably go on for a while, but I don’t think it can go on without finding out what happened to the server. What happened to the servers of the Pakistani gentleman that worked on the DNC? Where are those servers? They’re missing. Where are they? What happened to Hillary Clinton’s emails? 33,000 emails gone, just gone.

CNN posted a clip of the press conference, tweeting: “US President Trump: ‘I have great confidence’ in the US intelligence community, but Russian President Putin was ‘extremely strong and powerful’ in his denial of interfering in the US elections.”
