A group of bikers blocked Westboro Baptist Church from picketing the Newtown funerals.
The Twittersphere has erupted with tweets and Anonymous has posted a description of the action on their Facebook page. Huffington Post reported on December 19 that “good samaritan” motorcyclists, Angel Action, were ready to counter Westboro in Woodbury, Conn. “All these guys see us and think we’re bad. We’re not. It’s solidarity, is what it is,” New York native Jim Hannigan told Newtown Patch. “I just felt I had to be here.”
“The Westboro Baptist Church went to picket the funerals of the fallen children of the heinous shooting. Proclaiming it was “gods” judgement {sic} due to the state standing up for gay marriage. Well, they came face to face with hundreds of Hells Angels. The bikers formed a human wall blocking Westboro from entering. Needless to say, the disrespectful haters backed down.
You came to the wrong neighborhood, Westboro
Those bikers always follow Westboro though, they rev their motor cycle engines to drown out the shouts. most of them are military veterans.. They call themselves the Patriot Guard
Another picture that gives me hope. Drowning out the sound of hate.”
The Ku Klux Klan has counter-protested Westboro for picketing soldiers’ funerals in the past. In fact, an interview with a KKK member reveals the white supremacists still hate blacks and Jews, but they have to draw the line when it comes to the “God Hates Fags” guys.
Angel Action also decided they’ve had enough.
Law enforcement can’t do much of anything. Designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, the tax exempt “church” is free to picket and be as heinous as they wish as long as they are not breaking the law. They are a disgusting example of free speech and there’s nothing that can legally be done. In order to put a stop to the hatred, a motorcycle gang and another infamous hate group have now taken it upon themselves to stop the madness.
Internet vigilantes, Anonymous, have also made it clear they are on the job and will use every resource to shut Westboro down.
Will the KKK, Anonymous and Angel Action be able to stop them? If I were a member of Westboro Baptist Church, I’d be changing my name and keeping a low profile about now.
[There seems to be some dispute as to the name of this particular organization as Huffington Post has reported their name as Angel Action and Anonymous as the Patriot Guard.]
