At a Washington Post Live event on child literacy Tuesday, the host asked Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant (R) “How did America get to be so mediocre?” Bryant replied that America had become “so mediocre” after women started leaving the home to earn a living.
WOW!!!! Good answer!!!!
Bryant pushed his foot farther in to his mouth and continued:
“I’m going to get in trouble — do you want me to tell the truth? I think both parents started working. And the mom is in the workplace.”
“It’s not a bad thing, I’m going to get in trouble, I can see the emails tomorrow. But now both parents are working, they’re assuming their careers. That’s a great American story now that women are certainly in the workplace.”
“So, it’s the mother’s place to teach them to read?” the host asked.
The Republican governor explained. “No, no, but I think there was that loving, nurturing opportunity that both parents had a little bit of time. My dad was a reader, he was a mechanic. So, he didn’t go to college, but he was a reader. But he had a little bit more time with me, and today’s society, parents are so challenged. Not just the mom, but the mom and the dad. They’re working overtime, they’re trying to balance both of them in the workplace.”
It seems that Republicans are taking every opportunity to blame all of America’s problems on women. It really doesn’t matter what it is. If it’s a natural disaster, they blame it on abortion and who has abortions? WOMEN! Women who work are destroying families and those liberal harpie feminists are ruining the world. Just ask any old, white Republican man. He’ll tell you.
Last week on FOX “News,” a panel of men, consisting of the mental equivalent of a pile of rocks, asserted that women in the workplace are destroying the family. Fortunately, Megyn Kelly gave them a smackdown. FOX “News” contributor and all around rude dude, Erick Erickson felt compelled to defend himself in an op/ed where he proclaimed that feminists and emos had their “panties in a wad” over his infantile outbursts. Oh Erick, Phil and Lou, keep talking. Every syllable that comes out of your mouths is like a shovel in the dirt, digging the GOP grave deeper and deeper.
