Matt Damon gives Barack Obama a first-term report card in this exclusive interview with BET.com.
Damon is so disillusioned with President Obama that he almost feels as though the president dumped him. “He broke up with me,” Damon told BET in an interview published on the network’s site Thursday afternoon. Damon was famously a big supporter of Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign, but that relationship has soured over the last five years, especially after this year’s big revelations about the NSA secretly collecting the metadata of millions of American citizens.
“There are a lot of things that I really question,” Damon told BET.com “The legality of the drone strikes, these NSA revelations. Jimmy Carter came out and said we don’t live in a democracy. That’s a little intense when an ex-president says that.”
Damon won’t let Obama off the hook, he said: “He’s got some explaining to do, particularly for a constitutional law professor.”
