Tea Party Leader Asks God To Bring Retribution Against GOP Establishment

20140627_142629_000Roy Nicholson, Mississippi state Tea Party chairman, began a meeting with a prayer asking God to bring retribution against establishment Republicans:

“We ask for your blessing upon the conservatives in this state, that they might stand strong and firm. Father, we even ask for you to bless our enemies, and Lord they are truly our enemies that head the Republican Party and the whole political establishment.

“We’re asking, Father, for two things. We’re asking, Father, that you would expose them, set division amongst them, set them one against another, bring confusion and fear into their camp, into their thinking, for the purpose of pulling them down, for casting them down out of their high offices and reducing them, Lord, to having no power in this state.

“So, Lord, that you might raise up and seek the righteous in the positions of power that this state might once more be a state that honors you in all that it does.”

Jackson Free Press reported that as Nicholson prayed, audience members bowed their heads and voiced their approval.

The group welcomed conservative blogger, Charles Johnson. Johnson had previously alleged that Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) paid constituents to vote for him in June’s GOP primary runoff election against Tea Party favorite, state Sen. Chris McDaniel. Tea Partier Tricia Raymond described Johnson as a fearless bulldog and said “God gave us this red-haired man.”

The McDaniel campaign is disputing Cochran’s victory and arguing that Democrats violated state law by casting ballots for Cochran with no intention of voting for him in the general election.

Johnson has been subpoenaed to appear before a Lauderdale County grand jury.  Johnson’s source, Pastor Stevie Fielder, later withdrew his story. Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood claims that Fielder told authorities that he was paid by McDaniel campaign spokesperson, Noel Fritsch, to lie about the vote-buying scheme.

Authorities are investigating whether or not Johnson or McDaniels staffers paid Fielder for his false information.

Nicholson went on about the GOP:

“Father, we’re asking that in all of the tribulations were asking you to bring upon them, that it would work change in their heart—that you would use it to bring true Godly sorrow, that they might truly repent for their iniquity and their wickedness, for that they would be restored to you, that you would have honor in the state of Mississippi for the great works that you’ve done in correcting and purifying the government and rescuing and saving the worst of us.”
