From WKEF: Ohio resident Ashley Brady, 26, lost her leg in an accident last year and uses a prosthetic limb to walk. She says it’s difficult for her to battle the ice and snow and adds that she’s fallen multiple times. Brady also must climb three flights of stairs just to walk through her front door.
She decided to ask the management of her apartment complex to create a handicap parking space to make her life a little easier. Fortunately, management granted her request and installed the reserved parking spot.
One of Brady’s neighbors decided to ignore the handicap status and parked in the reserved spot. Brady saw no handicap placard or plate on the neighbor’s car, so she responded with a note she described as “stern and confident.”
The neighbor responded with a nasty note that read:
Hey handicap! First, never place your hands on my car again! Second, honey you ain’t the only one with “struggles.” You want pity go to a one leg support group! You messed with the wrong one! I don’t care what your note said shove it, but you touch my car again I will file a report, I am not playing! I let the office know the cry baby one leg touches my property I will cause trouble so go cry your struggles to someone who cares cause I’m walking away with both mine! -[Expletive]
Brady’s sisters posted the mean-spirited note on Facebook and it’s been shared more than 1000 times. She also complained to the apartment complex management, and has filed a complaint with police.
“I got a lot of feedback from this online from a lot of other amputees who have been in similar situations,” she said. “You’re not just going to get what you want by bullying. She told me to cry to someone who cares, so I went to the Internet, and it turns out a lot of people care.”
