UPDATE, 14MAY15, 08:00 a.m. Eastern: NBC News reports that Georgia principal Nancy Gordeuk has been fired over her racist remark. “In light of recent events, the board of directors of TNT Academy has moved to dismiss Nancy Gordeuk as principal,” chair of the board Dr. Heidi Anderson wrote to a local NAACP chapter.
A Georgia principal blamed Satan for her racist outburst at her school’s graduation ceremony.
During a commencement ceremony Friday, TNT Academy Principal and founder, Nancy Gordeuk, accidentally closed out the ceremony before the valedictorian gave his speech. As the crowd was leaving, she realized her mistake and urged everyone to come back.
Her comments were recorded by a man in the audience, the most inflammatory being:
You can hear the crowd erupt and many of the attendees headed toward the exit, including Brooklyn Jacobs, a man who had been conspicuously photographing and filming the ceremony. Jacobs said the principal was “rude” the entire time and had called him a “goober” and a “coward.”
Gordeuk told WSB-TV, “It’s just that’s where I looked, the man that came up front was black. I guess I was frustrated at him for interrupting this speech for this student.”
The principal blamed Satan for her rude comments, “The devil was in this house,” she said, “and he came out from my mouth. I deeply apologize for my racist comment and hope that forgiveness is in your hearts.”
