Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes has a new political ad that chronicles Senator Mitch McConnell’s anti-women voting record – and it isn’t pretty.
From Grimes’ website:
After becoming an international laughingstock with the McConnelling phenomenon, Mitch McConnell is at it again in another awkward attempt to connect with voters. Today, Alison for Kentucky announces an aggressive new web ad buy hammering Mitch McConnell’s “proud” record of voting against Kentucky women.
Of particular note, the Grimes campaign used what is called B-Roll video put out by McConnell himself.
“In March, Kentucky Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell’s re-election campaign posted a strange video on its YouTube channel showing the senior lawmaker taking on random tasks and poses. The video, silent except for a jaunty soundtrack, contained a series of unrelated shots: a smile with his wife, a handshake on the campaign trail, a rousing speech at a factory.
The video, it turns out, was created to provide free B-roll to friendly supporters to use for their own pro-McConnell ads — which isn’t a bad idea, because campaigns are legally barred from coordinating with outside groups.”
However as it turns out, the Grimes’ campaign has used this “free footage” to create the ad you see, below.
