Another clown emerges from the tiny GOP car.
Dr. Ben Carson told radio host Hugh Hewitt that he will probably run for president. He won’t make it official until May so that he can avoid candidate burnout. But he does have a campaign manager and a PAC, so you do the math.
Carson may appeal to some of the fringe but since he told Glenn Beck that Americans who live in big cities don’t have a right to a semi-automatic weapons, it is unlikely he will make it past the primaries. He also told Sean Hannity that he would consider a run if God gave him the green light.
Looks like the light is green!
The Young Conservatives are really excited about it. And so am I. #RunBenRun
The interview:
Hugh Hewitt: “So I know you like debating, so the question arises: will we be seeing you on the presidential debate circuit next year that will begin, that the Republicans are organizing for those who want the nomination of the party.”
Dr. Ben Carson: “I think the chances are reasonably good of that happening. I’m waiting obviously for a few more months. I want to make sure that it’s clearly something my fellow Americans want me to do and I’m also waiting to see what the results are in November because if the people indicate that they truly do want a nation that is for of and by the people, then I, and along with I hope many other people, be willing to give it everything we possibly have.”
Hewitt: “That could be a crowded stage. It’s going to be 10-12 maybe even fourteen people up there. Do you expect to be able to make any headway against such experienced debaters as Ted Cruz, who’s won nine Supreme Court cases, or Marco Rubio, or Rand Paul, and got governors like Scott walker and Rick Perry and Chris Christie. You feel like you got the experience you need to debater political heavyweights that experienced?”
Carson: “I’ve been talking all my life, and I’ll continue to talk. You know, I will never be a politician, I will tell you that right off the bat.”
Hewitt: “Let me finish by going back to those debates. you said there’s a very good chance you’re going to run for president and be in those debates. What is the outside date for you making that formal. You think you have to do that in December or January?”
Carson: “I think certainly before May of next year.”
Hewitt: “That’s pretty late. Isn’t it Dr. Carson?”
Carson: “No, no. I have a lot of consultants. One of the things I’ve learned is that you need to talk to a lot of people.”
