Actor and activist Mark Ruffalo went after climate denier David Koch on Twitter calling for the Smithsonian Institute to cut ties with the Koch Brothers.
Three dozen scientists recently sent an open letter to the Museum of Natural History asking they cut ties with the Kochs and anyone else who has connections to the fossile fuel industry.
A subsequent petition specifically calling out the Koch brothers says in part, “those who profit from fossil fuels or fund lobby groups that misrepresent climate science” should be removed from board positions.
The petition specifically names David Koch and calls for the billionaire to be kicked off the boards of the American Museum of Natural History in New York and the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington.

From WaPo:
“David Koch, the billionaire conservative donor and executive vice president of Koch Industries, donated $35 million in 2012 for a new dinosaur hall at the Smithsonian’s Natural History museum. He had previously given $15 million to the museum’s hall of human origins that is named for him. In New York’s museum, he donated $20 million to the dinosaur wing that is also named after him.”
While it’s unlikely that the museum will cut ties with a top benefactor, Ruffalo wanted to make sure his 1.4 million Twitter followers know what’s happeneing and have the opportunity to sign the petition.
