By now, you’ve heard of the crazy conspiracy theory about the seven states that will be participating in Jade Helm 15, a Navy SEAL/Green Beret war simulation. Conspiracy theorists believe the simulation is real and that Obama is literally planning to capture political prisoners, put them in train cars that have already been fitted with shackles and deliver said prisoners to FEMA camps located in abandoned Walmart stores.
Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott pandered to the fringe and ordered the Texas State Guard to monitor Jade Helm 15. 2016 presidential candidate Ted Cruz also fueled the conspiracy theory rumor and even Kentucky Senator Rand Paul said he’d “look into it.”
Now, hold on to your cowboy hats because a voice of reason has stepped in to quash the ridiculous rumor and you might just be surprised who that is.
Former Texas Governor Rick Perry!!! Yes, RICK PERRY. Maybe the glasses ARE helping because he recently suggested that current Republican Governor Greg Abbott went too far last week in raising questions about U.S. military exercises in Texas.
“It’s OK to question your government. I do it on a regular basis. But the military is something else,” said Perry, an Air Force veteran, as he prepared to speak to the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth. “Our military is quite trustworthy. The civilian leadership, you can always question that, but not the men and women in uniform.”
Perry is a hop, skip and a jump from announcing his 2016 bid and is expected to squeeze into the GOP presidential clown car this June.
What kind of world do we live in where Rick Perry is the voice of reason?
