A Message To Congresswoman Renee Ellmers About Context, Leftists & Sexism

aacatsCongresswoman Ellmers,

You said:

“Men do tend to talk about things on a much higher level… Many of my male colleagues, when they go to the House floor, you know, they’ve got some pie chart or graph behind them and they’re talking about trillions of dollars and how, you know, the debt is awful and, you know, we all agree with that. …

We need our male colleagues to understand that if you can bring it down to a woman’s level and what everything that she is balancing in her life — that’s the way to go.”

You also said  that what women most want is more time, including “more time in the morning to get ready.”

After you made this statement, and people understood exactly what you said, I am assuming you realized that you made a faux pas (that means mistake) because you quickly went on the defense.

After you were deservedly mocked by conservatives and liberals, you told Think Progress….

…that your “comments were ‘taken completely out of context’ in the Examiner story. ‘I am a woman, and find it both offensive and sexist to take my words and redefine them to imply that women need to be addressed at a lower level,’ she wrote, blaming ‘certain leftist writers’ for engaging in ‘gotcha’ journalism.’”

OMG. LOL.

Leftist writers”??? THAT was predictable. And funny because Ashe Schow, the woman who wrote about you in the Washington Examiner, was previously a writer for the very conservtaive Heritage Foundation.

Gotcha” journalism? Hahahaha. No. Gotcha journalism would require a journalist asking you the kind of question where, no matter your answer, you look guilty, or like a fool. You were not answering a question. You were offering advice.

Sexist??? Wow – that IS a reach. I am a woman and I understood what you said – and it was sexist – but there were no pie charts or graphs, so I wasn’t confused.

You believe the Republican men need to talk to women on their level – in terms they can understand, right? According to YOUR WORDS, pie charts and graphs are confusing to women, and talk of the economy is just too much for the lady brain. She can relate to much simpler examples like correlating economic policy to time in the morning to get ready or time with her family. In other words, if you dumb the message down, the ladyfolk might be able to understand.

Congresswoman, that is the message you sent. For you to accuse anyone of sexism because they UNDERSTOOD what you meant is CLASSIC Tea Party Lunatic strategy – accuse them of what YOU DO. That is a faulty plan and hasn’t really worked out – even for the GOP men!

You can blather on and on about your poor victim stance and pretend the words you said don’t mean what they actually mean, but I have two little words for you Mrs. Ellmers: Todd Akin.

He even faux apologized for his caveman rape comments but it didn’t matter. He lost because anyone with half a brain knew that his legitimate rape comments were his legitimate views. Two years have passed and now he has rescinded his apology and guess what??? He is saying that what he said was taken out of context. He’s even whining that he is a victim of a liberal media assassination and has compared himself to Sen. Joseph McCarthy.

That is a lot of victim talk from the party that likes to accuse liberals of crying victim.

You see Congresswoman, everybody understands exactly what you meant. You are a victim of your own sexist messaging.

Now, suck it up, get over it, move on and  lock up your garage. “Sexism…” Hahahahahahahah, good one.
